After just missing our evening shuttle yesterday by a few minutes we were delayed an hour :) but arrived at our first overnight stop,a carpark just outside Escalles near the Cap Blanc Nez at about one in the morning !!! After a good nights sleep we woke to grey skies and not the sunshine from last September.
So afer breakfast we drove to Wissant for the first of our walks a stroll along the beach with the tide well out we continued along the coast road stopping just short of Wimereux at the Dunes de la Slack. We then walked along the beach as the tide came in to Fort Mahon at Ambleteuse and back through the Dunes as the rain fell !!!! Then onto Wimereux for lunch and a read in the van before moving on to Boulogne-Sur-Mer where we discovered the old Fortified Town and walked around the walls. There where hundreds of English school kids of a trip buying sweets and berets :) and workmen were preparing the town for a festival over the next couple of days with fantastic beds of flowers and vegetables !!!
Then a quick detour along the sea front at le Touquet before ending up at an old favourite of le Crotoy in the Somme. This is now parking meter heaven !!! but we ended parking for free by the sluice overlooking the port  We were just finishing tea when the siren went off which we thought was a warning that the tide was now coming in but it was the automatic sluice opening to empty the lagoon. It was a fantastic sight with a vast torrent of water flowing out the estuary :) I took some nice long exposure pics. With strong wind forecast for the next couple of days we parked close to the sluice for shelter but by one in the morning and winds gusting to 36 kts we drove into town and parked up behind the church for shelter !!!
